  • What is Karim canvas? (Materials and Sustainability)
Karim material is a durable light versatile and breathable weatherproof canvas typically used to make outdoor cushions or cover outdoor furniture, it's perfect for indoors or outdoors. This material can withstand rain and what other weather may come your way, so if you forget to bring it inside over night it will be perfectly fine. It is also made to withstand mold and mildew. Materials and Sustainability - The choice of timber has to fulfil the criteria of being naturally weather durable to avoid chemical treatment with the pollution that can come with that. It also has to come from a planted or sustainable source. The choice of fabric was difficult because of the fact it had to be suitable for outdoors as well as indoors. After careful consideration we decided to use on our standard swings 100% acrylic canvas (with a 10-year manufacturerswaranteetee from fading) because it is rotproof. It is also very easy care. The rope we use on our swings are NZ made soft high performance polyester yachting braid. We decided on a synthetic rope because it does not rot . Polyester has excellent UV resistance and is strong. We use a non-toxic natural Tung oil on the wood.
  • Benefits of Swings
Benefits of Swings *The most obvious benefit is that swinging is fun and exciting. The feeling of being weightless for a split second at each end of the pendulum, feeling the wind as you accelerate down, hitting the bottom of the pendulum in full speed with the extra g-force on your body is exciting. To laugh and be happy is most beneficial to both our physical and mental health. *Most babies children would benefit from having plenty of opportunities to swing. If you don't have your own swing go to the playground often. Swinging is a suitable exercise from the time the neck is strong enough (approximately 6 months). Swing your baby gently in the beginning to get them used to swinging and not frighten them. If you start your baby young be gentle in your swinging for quite some time. Swinging can also be very soothing and relaxing for your baby. *There are some hidden benefits that the children won't know about but we as parents can appreciate; *Eye Development (focusing): The development of changing the depth of focus has already started at 6 months and is basically completed during the baby's second year. Swinging is one of the most excellent ways of helping to develop this ability and exercise it as the baby is moving back and forth constantly changing the depth of focus. (This is a period when watching TV should be at the absolute minimum, preferably not at all.) So don't wait to long before you start your baby swinging. *Balance: Eyes and ears are major organs when it comes to balance. When swinging it is not only the eyes that are trained and exercised but also the fluid in the inner ear is constantly swirling back and forth, which is great for the development of balance. When swinging your baby is not only leaning front wards and back wards she/he is also moving back and forth and up and down. *Coordination: To get oneself swinging only by moving ones body is harder than it looks. At the age of about 4 years old a child can swing by themselves and swinging is super for learning and training full body coordination. *Benefits for the parents: There are times when you want to get on with a job without your baby/toddler wanting to be held or clinging to your leg. Just pop your baby in the swing close at hand where he/she can see you. An occasional push will keep baby entertained while you get on with the job. A perfect example is when you are preparing dinner, a time when baby can be tired and grumpy. The rocking movements of the swing more often than not makes the baby go to sleep. We know of people using their swing in the milking shed and others in the sheep yards. *An easy to shift swing can be of great help to those who work in and around home and have to look after the little one too.* (If you know of more benefits please contact us so we can add it here or lead people to the information.)
  • Weight limit
Single Swings - 40-50kgs. Double Swings - 110-120kgs. All swings go through a series of saftey tests and weights to assure the swing/s are acceptable and at safe standards for parents an babies/toddlers to relax and enjoy.
  • Business philosophies and principals.
As individuals we want the products we use and are surrounded with to be of high quality, to buy them for a fair price, to care for the environment, and to contribute to society in more ways than just working and paying taxes. Quality- Number one in high quality is good craftsmanship. This leads to a good quality product for the customer, and also gives work satisfaction. We believe in continually developing the skills of all people involved in our business. That is not enough though. A good craftsman also needs good materials. We believe in using the highest quality materials, tempered with control over price, insuring the product will be long lasting. Good design is also an important part of high quality. Products need to function well and be attractive to the eye. Be fair and kind- We believe in a fair price for all involved from consumer to deliverer-seller-"makers" (staff and factory)-providers of raw materials-"Creators" (founder of business, investors and designer) down to the community who provides the infrastructure. Looking at what's happening today it seems like one or more of those involved are treated unfairly. Care for the environment- As individuals and a family we try to live in a decent balance with nature since we are an integral part of and are dependent on the whole of creation. A business is no different and has to operate and live according to the same rules and principals. In our business we are trying to find a balance between old knowledge and wisdom and new discoveries and technical advancement. The materials we use, wood, cloth and rope, have been used for thousands of years and therefore feels very familiar and natural to us. In our choice of materials we are faced with the challenge that we want them to be durable outside as well as inside and be easy care for the busy modern lifestyle.
  • Contribute
We like to contribute to society in more ways than just working and paying taxes. To be a healthy and happy individual we believe that one must have not only the goal to look after oneself and ones family but also have unselfish goals which are outside of and bigger than oneself.

  • HANGING INSTRUCTIONS BABY TODDLER SWING
DOUBLE SWINGS - Screw 2 screw-eyes approx. 500mm apart. To have the screw-eyes wider apart than the swing itself makes it swing straight. Make sure the holes in the eyes are facing forward so the carbine hook rolls in the eye instead of grinding. Adjust the height with the sliding ropelocks. swings can be hung from, up to a height of 2.3 metres in the Baby mode, where you can pop them in and out easily and 2.3 metres in the toddler mode closer to the ground, without extension ropes. (note this is the hanging height not the length of the ropes) For any higher extension ropes will be needed. If you purchase directly from us we can also organsie to make the ropes longer, which may have an additional small cost. Please email us if you require this service. *Check the ropes, knots and attachments regularly for evidence of deterioration and replace if weakened. The sun breaks down all rope fibres over time. A safety surface under the swing is recommended. Do not hang over concrete, asphalt or any other hard surface.* 6 MONTHS TO 6 YEARS baby and toddler swing is suitable for a baby from when it can sit upright unaided (approximately 6 months) to 6 years old or 40 kg/88 lbs. Always support your baby well with cushions etc. until your baby grows into the swing. Please remember a young baby should always be swung gently.
  • WHERE WOULD I HANG MY SWING INSIDE?
Inside you will need to hang it from a strong structural point in the ceiling, a beam, rafter or door frame. The safest way is to use stainless steel screw eyes in and clip the swing to these using the stainless steel carbine clips that come with the swing.
  • HOW CAN I HANG MY SWING FROM A TREE?
It is important to make sure that the branch you would like to hang the swing from is strong enough to take the weight of the person and the force of swinging. The branch needs to be horizontal to the ground so the swing will swing straight. Eye screws make it easy to hang your swing and are much better for the tree than wrapping rope around it. Always check the hanging height to ground to make sure the ropes are long enough for the position. Contact us if you require help with this.
  • WHERE CAN I HANG A SWING?
There are many choices for hanging your swing either indoors or outdoors. You will need to be sure that the point of hanging is strong enough for the weight to be used in the swing and there is enough space around the swing for it to operate safely. With the appropriate hardware your swing may be hung from timber, concrete or a tree. Popular choices are inside from the ceiling, verandas, pergolas, trees and existing swing frames. Having a swing in your living room is always great for family entertainment.
